Acetoin, Acetyl Propionyl & Diacetyl
(updated 4/12/2017)
We do not add Diacetyl or Acetyl Propionyl (also known as 2,3-pentanedione) to our flavors. However, there is naturally occurring diacetyl in some of our products based upon the natural chemistry and flavor extraction process. Acetoin is used in compounding some of our flavors.
Inhalation of diacetyl, acetyl propionyl and/or acetoin has been linked to damage to the respiratory tract and lungs, including the lung disease bronchiolitis obliterans. Exposure could result in irritation and damage to the eyes, skin, nose, throat and respiratory tract, and could cause permanent lung damage.
